The Air App combines social networking with athletic recruiting. Athletes build detailed profiles with stats, videos and highlights. Coaches and recruiters search that talent, shortlist athletes and reach out directly, and a matching feature connects athletes with opportunities. The platform runs on web and mobile and supports messaging, a social feed and notifications.
Challenge
The product had to serve three kinds of users at once: athletes, coaches and recruiters. Each needed their own dashboard, permissions and view of the data. Athletes needed rich profiles, while coaches and recruiters needed tools to search and shortlist talent. Messaging, the feed, follows and notifications also had to stay in sync across web and mobile.
Approach
The platform is built around one backend shared by the web and mobile apps. Role-based access keeps athletes, coaches and recruiters to the data meant for them, with a separate dashboard for each. Athletes manage their profiles and applications, coaches and recruiters search, shortlist and reach out, and the matching feature pairs athletes with opportunities. Messaging, the social feed and notifications update in real time.
